I love romance, in anything. Everything can be romantic and the more ambiguous the better. Since meeting, Emily and I have never been in the same room while using the toilet. People hate ambiguity, they get too literal about everything; wanting to understand what everything means to the nth degree. Needing to explain the universe; know whether there is a God or not, criticise people for doing or not doing things.
I have been meaning to write a blog for ages about romance. I think it is an almost sappy, frowned upon term, almost uncool for some. It's thrown in there with the ilk of Hallmark Valentine's day. But romance should be something for everyone. I think the world would be a much nicer place if it were slightly less critical and efficient in places and more romantic. Super inefficiencies are often more complicated and cause things to break: An semi-old, nostalgic, inefficient mechanical car won't save you in fuel, but it'll probably not breakdown because its 27th pointless electrical sensor has malfunctioned.
Speaking of Valentine's; in our family, we love it. So what if it's a commercial holiday. So what if you already buy flowers for your wife every week. No one's forcing you to go out and buy flowers or a card, but it's a great opportunity, and reminder, to tell the people in your life what they mean to you. So whatever you do in the middle of February, be romantic.
