Alton Towers Resort - Family Mini Break

Alton Towers Resort - Family Mini Break

It's always nice to go for a short family trip away. One of our favourite places to go is the Alton towers resort. My mum has always taken us to some amazing places over the years, but for me one of my favourite places to go is here. When we set eyes on the hotel on our first arrival, it was such a magical place.
I can tell you that every one of our trips is still just as magical as the first time.

As you enter the hotel you are greeted by such nice staff & feel really looked after. Then from the balcony you can see the whole hotel, outside garden with ponds & the restaurants below where you can go for a superb breakfast & evening meal. We have also stayed at the Splash landings resort too but that closes in winter. It is great in spring though.

The theme park closes from November to March so at this time of year it is all about the ''Cariba Creek waterpark''. The waterpark is great for people of all ages, but caters tremendously for young children. It is a sort of beach island setting & as you walk into the park you are hit with that lovely humid heat. This is fantastic when it is the middle of winter & freezing cold outside! There is a great water works for loads of interaction, slides, an outdoor slide/swimming area (which is open Friday - Monday) & lots more.

This is the 4th time Emily, Raphael & I have been & Etta's 2nd. I think it was one of my favourite trips this time. As the kids have swimming lessons at weekends they are so confident now in the water & are old enough to get really excited about the place. On the top of the water works is an enormous bucket which fills & (with a ringing bell) tips its contents onto excited people below every 15 minutes. The life guards are so friendly & are always willing to help, chat or joke with you & you feel totally welcome and at ease.
No matter what age you are, whether you have young children or older ones or just fancy a break, this place is well worth a trip & if you can visit outside of busy times (Tues - Thurs) it is the perfect place to relax & escape the winter blues. We are already planning our spring break & look forward to many more magical times at this fantastic place.
